Menopausey’s Hot Guide to Perimenopause And Menopause Resources and Products is intended to serve as a comprehensive guide to all the things companies/people are offering in the perimenopause and menopause space. Note, these are not endorsements. There’s a lot of pseudo science, lack of science, poorly communicated science, and other predatory things out there, unfortunately. While I haven’t listed (and wouldn’t list) anything I know to be explicitly predatory, I do have some questions.

And as a perimenopausal human, I know the desperation that can exist much too intimately when it comes to buying the thing that will help this life phase suck less. (Also note, the title is a tongue-in-cheek click-bait name.)

I’ve tried vitamins, devices, therapy, weighted blankets, two different forms of hormonal birth control (ring, Annovera, and BCP, Nextstellis. Neither worked well for me, but that’s a story for another page), changing my schedule to get more light and regulate my circadian rhythm, diet changes, bedding changes, decreasing caffeine intake, dropping alcohol, playing pickleball, getting a puppy (not an attempt to solve for perimenopause but coincidentally or otherwise, did positively impact my insomnia), roller skating my way through it, booking a consult with an out-of-network Menopause Society Certified Practitioner, walked out of a GP’s office with a Sertraline (Zoloft generic) prescription I didn’t end up taking (also a story for another page), air filter/white noise machine, meditation…the list goes on and on.

So, definitely do your own research, but hopefully this gives you a place to start.

A vibrant illustration featuring three people celebrating. On the left, a person with short hair, wearing a purple jacket, white shirt, and yellow pants, holds a balloon and appears to be dancing joyfully. In the center, an individual with medium-length hair in a red top and dark blue wide-legged pants stands with their eyes closed, as if savoring the moment. To the right, a person with blue hair in a pink top and yellow pants is dabbing, a popular dance move, with one arm raised sharply and their head turned into the elbow. Confetti is scattered in the air around them, and whimsical clouds with a minimalist design float in the background, adding to the festive atmosphere. (Written by ChatGPT.)
